I'll admit it – I just finished doing the Superman pose before recording today's tip. Arms on hips, chest out, chin up. You might think it looks silly, but here's what I know after decades in sales: your energy level walking into a presentation directly correlates to your success walking out.
During my years as a Hall of Fame sales coach, I've observed a consistent pattern among top performers. They don't just show up to appointments – they show up energized, excited, and ready to transfer that enthusiasm to their prospects.
Here's the fundamental truth about sales: It's an energy transfer game.
You cannot give what you don't have. If you walk into a meeting feeling flat, distracted, or going through the motions, your prospect will mirror that energy. They'll sit back, disengage, and ultimately pass on your solution – not because it wasn't right for them, but because you failed to ignite their excitement about the possibilities.
The Energy-to-Sales Connection:
Think about the last time you bought something significant. Was the salesperson passionate about their product? Did their enthusiasm make you lean in and pay attention? That's not coincidence – that's the science of influence in action.
Your Pre-Game Ritual Matters:
Top athletes have pre-game rituals. Musicians have backstage routines. Sales professionals need the same intentional approach to getting into peak state.
Find what energizes YOU:
Power poses (yes, Superman works!)
High-energy music that gets your blood pumping
A quick walk in fresh air to clear your mind
Visualization exercises where you see the successful outcome
Positive affirmations about the value you bring
The Ripple Effect:
When you walk into that appointment with genuine excitement about your product and the solution you offer, something magical happens. Your energy becomes contagious. Your prospect starts to feel that same excitement. They begin to envision how your solution could transform their situation.
Remember: Sales isn't about convincing someone to buy something they don't need. It's about transferring your genuine enthusiasm for a solution that can genuinely help them.
Your energy is your competitive advantage. Use it intentionally.

“The Superman Pose That Changed My Sales Game!”
Okay, confession time... I literally just finished doing the Superman pose before making this post!
Arms on hips, chest out, chin up. You're probably thinking I've lost my mind, but stick with me here because this "silly" little trick might just transform your sales results!
Here's what I've learned after coaching hundreds of salespeople:
Your energy level walking INTO a meeting determines your success walking OUT of it. Period.
Think about it – sales is basically an energy transfer game. You can't give what you don't have! If you show up feeling blah, distracted, or just going through the motions, guess what your prospect is going to feel?
Exactly. Blah.
But here's the flip side...
When you walk in genuinely excited about your product and the solution you offer, something amazing happens. That excitement becomes contagious! Your prospect starts feeling it too. They begin imagining how your solution could change their life.
So here's my challenge for you:
Before your next important meeting (sales or otherwise), find what gets YOU fired up:
- Power poses (Superman, Wonder Woman – whatever works!)
- Pump-up music that gets your blood moving
- Fresh air – step outside and take some deep breaths
- Visualization – see yourself succeeding
- Positive self-talk about the value you bring
The bottom line? Your energy is your secret weapon. Use it on purpose!
I remember the last time you bought something big – wasn't the salesperson excited about their product? Didn't their enthusiasm make you lean in and pay attention? That's not accident, that's influence in action!
What about you? What's your go-to way to get pumped up before important moments? Drop it in the comments – I want to steal your best ideas!
